Gateway West Sustainable I. Breaks Ground

On Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 9:00 a.m., Sustainable Building Solutions, Hunzinger Construction Company, Stephen Perry Smith Architects and Environmental Systems Inc. hosted a Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Gateway West Sustainable I project, located in the Gateway West Commerce Center in Brookfield. Despite the rainy weather, over 45 guests turned out for the milestone event.

Addresses were given by Mayor Jeff Speaker, Waukesha County Executive Dan Vrakas, Executive Director of the WI Green Building Alliance Sue Loomans, Executive Vice President of Hunzinger Construction Jim Hunzinger, New Construction Manager for Focus on Energy Chris Hackner, and President of Environmental Systems, Inc. Paul Oswald. Also in attendance were State Representative Rich Zipperer and Waukesha County Board Supervisor Jim Heinrich.

The 34,108 s.f. Gateway West Sustainable I development has been registered for LEED Certification with the United States Green Building Council and will be submitted for LEED for New Construction and LEED Existing Building Operations and Maintenance Certification upon completion. The facility will be the new Corporate Headquarters for Environmental Systems Inc., who will be the primary tenant.

The new sustainable development will offer 8,425 s.f. of divisible space available for lease.
