The 5,300 sf renovation of Hunzinger Construction Company's Corporate office achieved the following goals: 1) Create a more centralized Estimating Department. 2) Maximize the existing space for the Accounting Department and project management support personnel. 3) Update the HVAC system to provide better temperature control to occupants. 4) Create a more energy and resource efficient building, which promotes the health and well being of its occupants.
Sustainable Aspects Include
1) 30% reduction of water use: waterless urinal, low-flow toilets, and low-flow, sensor operated lavatory faucets. 2) High efficiency recessed direct/indirect fixtures with T8 lamps installed / achieved greater than an 18% reduction in lighting power density. 3) Dual level switching, automatic shut-offs, and photo-sensing dimming were utilized 4) Replacement of HVAC system: Units utilize R-1004A refrigerant and are rated at 12.7 EER, and an IPLV rating of 14.6, surpassing the benchmark requirements of 11.0 EER and 11.4 IPLV. 5) Private offices have zone damper and adjustable zone sensor; open interior area has 3 zone dampers. 6) Building Reuse: 65% of existing non-shell, non-structure components maintained including 78% of the ceiling and 74% of the interior wall partitions retained. 7) C&D Waste Recycling: 89% of total construction waste diverted from the landfill. 8) Resource Reuse: Reuse of materials and products(excluding furniture and furnishings), for which the typical replacement value is equivalent to an impressive 55% of the total material cost of this project.
