Sustainable Building Solutions once again served as the LEED Consultant for Environmental Systems, Inc. for the recertification of their 34,000 SF Brookfield office building Gateway West Sustainable I located at 3410 Gateway Road, Brookfield, WI in the Gateway West Commerce Center. ESI designs and supports total building management systems including building controls, automation, security, life safety, building operations and energy management systems.

SBS has previously consulted for this facility as the LEED Consultant for ESI on their LEED Platinum NC 2.2 certification and their LEED EB: O+M V2009 first round certification. Sustainable Building Solutions has a long standing relationship with ESI and continues to serve as a trusted advisor for their internal green team.

Already impressive as it stands as a LEED NC Platinum building, Gateway West Sustainable I/Environmental Systems, Inc. (ESI) has added a new plaque to their wall as the FIRST LEED EB: O+M PLATINUM building in the state of Wisconsin. With a LEED EB: O+M Platinum certification score of 86, Gateway West Sustainable I’s score ranks 5th in the World! Also championing ENERGY STAR’s program in sustainability the building has attained a 99% ENERGY STAR rating. SBS is honored to be a part of such an outstanding testament to the true value in sustainable building and culture.

To say that the project team scrupulously analyzed industry trends and available systems and technologies to arrive at Gateway West Sustainable I as it stands today, is an understatement. Everyone was committed to developing and refining an action plan that addressed and provided a sustainable site and energy modeling that would deliver a facility that maximizes potential efficiencies, incorporates high performance systems and equipment and monitors everything through the use of a state of the art building management system. Furthermore, the project stakeholders mandated that the materials and resources that would be used to construct the space and decorate its surfaces would be selected with immediate and long term sustainability in mind, always considering factors such as recycled content, low emissions, durability, and the proximity of raw and finished goods to the jobsite. In the end, Gateway West Sustainable I provides an innovative and pleasant working environment that allows occupants and visitors alike to see how sustainable design and construction efforts can return real and lasting social, fiscal, and environmental benefits.
