Johnson Controls Inc. Power Solutions
Thanks to the hard work of Sustainable Business Solutions who served as LEED Consultant, the 114,599 SF two-story Power Solutions Office Building is LEED-NC Platinum certified. The building was part of the Johnson Controls Glendale Campus Expansion Project. The two story building consists of a 47,334 SF first floor and 44,503 SF second floor office space with 22,762 SF of basement, which houses the buildings mechanical systems.
The building includes a roof mounted solar hot water heater system and a 33,000 gallon underground water collection cistern and filtration system among its green attributes. The cistern will capture rainwater from all new roof surfaces for reuse, thus reducing potable water consumption for new bathroom fixtures by 77%, a savings of 595,000 gallons annually. The 1,330 SF solar water heater system produces all of the hot water needed for the campus.
In addition to the features of this building, the Campus Expansion project as a whole diverted over 89% of the construction and demolition waste from the landfill which helped to grant its elite LEED status.
